Project Description
Under this project, Bio-Sand filters were installed in 30 public schools across Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, the administrative headquarters of Khotang District in Koshi Province, Nepal. These filters are now providing safe and potable drinking water to more than 3,000 students and teachers in the 30 schools. With the availability of clean water, the incidence of water-borne diseases and related infections is expected to decline significantly, leading to reduced absenteeism among students and improved overall health and learning outcomes.
The project started on 12TH January 2026 and was completed on 17TH April 2026.
Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, located in the mid-hill region of Nepal, lies at an elevation ranging from 700 meters to 2,250 meters above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 246.51 square kilometers and, according to the 2011 census, comprises 10,050 households with a total population of 46,903. Positioned approximately 260 kilometers from Kathmandu, the capital city, Diktel is accessible by road, with travel typically requiring 7 to 8 hours due to the hilly terrain and road conditions.
