Rotary Club of Gongabu Successfully Conducts Free Eye Camp for Cataract Surgery----
The Rotary Club of Gongabu conducted a free eye camp for cataract surgery as part of its service project for the year 2025–26 from Magh 15 to 22 in Dhunibesi, Dhading. During the camp, free cataract surgeries were performed on Magh 20, 21, and 22.
Rotary Club Gongabu led the eye camp, with the support of seven other Rotary clubs as co-organizers: Rotary Club Balaju, Rotary Club Kathmandu, Rotary Club Kathmandu Height, Rotary Club Kathmandu Circle, Rotary Club Kathmandu Metro, Rotary Club Matrubhumi Baluwatar, and Rotary Club Himalayan Golfers, along with Rotary Club Kathmandu Downtown.
Members of Rotary Club Gongabu, organized under RCC Sana Kisan, were sent to Dhunibesi, Dhading to support the eye camp. Additional support came from R.C.C. Jiwanpur, R.C.C. Kewalpur, and Rotaract Club Gongabu, which also participated as co-organizers.
The eye camp was conducted at multiple locations:
First day: Chhatre Deurali Health Post, Dhunibesi Municipality
Second day: Jewanpur Health Post
Third day: Naubise Health Post
Fourth day: Kewalpur Health Post, Thakre Rural Municipality
Fifth day: Kewalpur Health Post, covering wards 5, 6, and 7 of Newalpur
Sixth day: Free consultations for isolated patients in Kewalpur and at Kulchandra Basic School, Jewanpur
A total of 1,321 people were examined in Dhunibesi Municipality and Thakre Rural Municipality, from which 96 cataract patients were identified. Out of these, 68 patients were successfully operated on, while 24 could not undergo surgery due to various reasons.
Rotary Club Gongabu is proud to provide this valuable service and remains committed to expanding its initiatives. This eye camp has also strengthened the club’s relationship with the Dhading community.
Balkrishna Acharya, Mayor of Dhunibesi Municipality, expressed his gratitude to Rotary Club Gongabu and Nepal Eye Hospital for making this free eye camp possible, allowing residents to benefit from much-needed cataract treatment.
