Project Description
On Saturday, 20th Mangsir 2082 (Nepali Calendar), under the Community Partnership Program, a one-day training program on Women's Empowerment was jointly organized by this organization and the Rotary Club of Midtown Pokhara at Hotel Royal Palace, New Road, Pokhara-8. The program was conducted as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign and targeted mothers' groups, community development organizations, clubs, and local residents from Wards 8, 9, 10, and 15 of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
The program was jointly chaired by Ms. Muna Bastola and Mr. Upendra Poudel, Presidents of the Community Service Center and Rotary Club of Midtown Pokhara respectively. The event was graced by Ms. Bimala Bhandari, Press Registrar of Gandaki Province, as the Chief Guest, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Namraj Bhattarai, Chief of Baidam Police Office, as the Special Guest.
A total of 140 participants, including representatives of mothers' groups, community development organizations, clubs, local residents, office bearers and executive committee members of the organization, former presidents, advisors, and members of the support subcommittee, attended the program.
The participants received training on women's empowerment from Dr. Hari Poudel, a pain management specialist, and Mr. Upendra Poudel, President of the Rotary Club of Midtown Pokhara. Likewise, DSP Namraj Bhattarai, Chief of the Baidam Police Office, provided information and awareness on gender-based violence.
During the program, Mr. Binod Prasad Haiju, Past President of the Rotary Club of Midtown Pokhara, delivered the welcome remarks. Mr. Kamal Bahadur Shrestha, Immediate Past President of the Community Service Center, Prithvichowk, introduced the organization and its activities. The program was moderated by Mr. Tirtha Sharma Dhakal, Secretary of the organization.
