Project Description
Rotary Club of Bhaktapur, in collaboration with Rotaract Club of KMC Duwakot, successfully organized a talk program on “Environmental Awareness on Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) Contaminations” on 2nd August 2025 at the Basic Sciences Complex Building, KMC, Duwakot, Bhaktapur. The session was facilitated by Dr. Bishnu Twanabasu, Environmental Biologist & Professor at Weatherford College, Texas, USA.
Dr. Twanabasu highlighted the growing concern of PPCPs in the environment and their adverse impacts on ecosystems and human health. A key takeaway from the talk was the importance of proper disposal of unused or expired medicines — never mixing them with regular trash but instead returning them to pharmacies for safe collection and disposal. The interactive session created meaningful discussions among participants, enhancing awareness of responsible environmental practices.
The program saw active participation of 25 members and guests. Rotary Club of Bhaktapur extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Twanabasu for his valuable insights and to President Rajesh Twanabasu and all members for their warm hospitality and active engagement. The event concluded with the exchange of a beautiful souvenir and tokens of love, symbolizing appreciation and partnership.
Specialty:
First-time expert-led awareness on PPCPs contamination in Bhaktapur. Enhanced knowledge and awareness on safe medicine disposal and PPCPs contamination, inspiring members to promote environmental protection practices in their communities.
