Project Description
September 9, 2025 – Blood Donation Program Amidst National Crisis
On 9th September 2025, as the “Gengy Revolution” continued to affect lives across Nepal, many people were killed and several injured. In response to the urgent need for humanitarian service, a Rotary Action Group, formed by 13 Rotary Clubs, organized a Blood Donation Program at Balaju.
The participating clubs included:
Rotary Club of Balaju, Rotary Club of Gongabu, Rotary Club of Kathmandu, Rotary Club of Bagmati Kathmandu, Rotary Club of Matribhumi, Baluwatar , Rotary Club of Kathmandu Height, Rotary Club of Bhaktapur, Rotary Club of Hetauda, Rotary Club of Patan, Rotary Club of Tinkune, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Circle, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Downtown, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Metro
The program was carried out with the technical support of Nepal Red Cross Society – Blood Transfusion Service, along with local ward-level hospitals, doctors, and nurses. The event was graced by District Governor Rtn. Binod Koirala, district officials, members of various Rotary Clubs, and Rotaractors. Despite the challenges, 79 pints of blood were successfully collected. Remarkable participation was seen from local businesspersons, police personnel, travelers, and social workers around Balaju Chowk, showcasing community solidarity. Speaking at the program, it was highlighted that Rotary is a non-political, humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives. “No Nepali should lose their life due to a shortage of blood.” It was further informed that, alongside Balaju, Rotary Clubs across Nepal are organizing similar blood donation drives to meet urgent national needs.
