Project Description

Rotary Club of Kavre Valley jointly with Rotary Club of Kavre –Banepa and Rotary E Club of Namobuddha , in collaboration with Banepa Municipality, Banepa Health Care, Gosaithan Temple Manangement Committee,Bhakteshwor Yog Committtee and Rotaract Club of Banepa .

5. Objective:
The project aimed to promote environmental cleanliness and responsible waste disposal during the Gosaithan Temple festival, which attracts large crowds annually. By placing disposable dustbins and organizing post-event clean-up efforts, the Rotary Club intended to reduce littering, raise public awareness, and protect the temple’s sacred environment.

Activities Conducted:
Pre-Festival Action:
• On August 7th, 2025, the Rotary Club team placed over 20 disposable dustbins at strategic locations within and around the temple premises, including entry gates, food stalls, and prayer areas.
• Awareness posters and banners were installed, urging devotees to use dustbins and maintain cleanliness.
• Volunteers briefed local vendors and visitors about waste segregation and responsible disposal.
•During the Festival (August 8 ):
• Rotary youth volunteers were present on-site to monitor waste disposal, guide devotees, and encourage hygienic practices.
• Rotary Club distributed biodegradable waste bags to food stalls and vendors.
Post-Festival Clean-Up (August 9):
• A team of Rotary members, volunteers, and sanitation workers collected all waste materials, including plastics, food wrappers, and organic waste from the temple grounds.
• Waste was segregated into recyclable and non-recyclable categories.
• The area was cleaned thoroughly, and all dustbins were removed and properly disposed of.

7. Outcome and Impact:
• The temple premises remained significantly cleaner during the festival compared to previous years.
• An estimated 500 kg of waste was collected and responsibly disposed of.
• The project received positive feedback from temple authorities, devotees, and the local community.
• The initiative set a new standard for waste management during local religious festivals.
