Project Description

Kirtipur, 1st February – The Rotary Club of Kathmandu Height successfully organized a comprehensive career orientation and panel discussion program titled “We Also Want to Study: Unfamiliar Professions, Bright Future” at Creative Academy, Kirtipur, with the aim of encouraging students and youth to explore emerging career options beyond traditional professional paths.
The program brought together experts from agriculture, research, finance, and social entrepreneurship who shared their personal career journeys, challenges, and opportunities through interactive discussions. The panel featured Sumira Shrestha, Founder of Gyanbodh Research and Development Service; Krishna Dhital, Director of Sanskriti Farms and Research Center; Manjusha Shrestha, Operations In-Charge of Prabhu Capital Limited; and was moderated by Angirash Karki, Executive Director of Canopy Nepal. During the discussion, speakers reflected on their career aspirations during school years and how their plans evolved over time. Krishna Dhital explained his transition from engineering to agriculture and its positive social impact, while Sumira Shrestha and Manjusha Shrestha shared the motivations that led them into the social and financial sectors.
The session also focused on academic guidance and essential skills. Speakers emphasized the importance of practical learning, early skill development, and preparation for international scholarships. Key competencies highlighted included communication, analytical thinking, ethical values, leadership, creativity, and decision-making, all of which are vital for success across diverse professions. In the final segment, speakers shared insights into their daily professional lives and addressed common misconceptions in their respective fields, offering practical steps that students can take to begin their career journeys.
Approximately 140 students participated in the program. The Rotary Club of Kathmandu Height reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such educational initiatives, noting that the program successfully inspired young people to explore unfamiliar professions, make informed career choices, and move forward with confidence toward a bright future.
