Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Summer has arrived with some of the hottest days ever recorded in various parts of the world. The Terai region of Nepal is no exception, and I urge everyone to stay safe. While natural systems play a role, human actions such as global warming, biodiversity loss, and plastic pollution significantly impact temperature harmony. As responsible stewards of the planet, we must act to save our environment by reducing carbon emissions and adopting environmentally friendly lifestyles.

We strive to provide engaging content in GML each month, featuring diverse personalities sharing their insights with the Rotary community. In May, designated as ‘Youth Service Month,’ we are honored to have Ms. Shreeya Giri, recently named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 from Asia-Pacific for her contributions to mental health. This year, Rotary has focused on promoting good mental health, and Ms. Giri shares her vision with us.

The Rotary International Convention 2024 recently concluded in Singapore, with a notable participation from Nepal. I believe this event was instrumental in promoting Rotary’s spirit, fellowship, and grant pitching through an international network.

We are on the verge of a leadership transition. New teams for Rotary Year 2024-25 are being prepared to take on their roles. Club Officials Training Seminars (COTS) are actively being conducted club-wise and region-wise. The District Training Assembly (DTA) and Grant Management Seminar (GMS) are scheduled for June 15 and 16, respectively. The District Award and Recognition Program is on June 29. I encourage everyone to take full advantage of these opportunities to celebrate the joy of Rotary.

June has arrived as Fellowship Month in Rotary. This is a time to get to know each other better across different clubs, regions, and zones. Prepare to partner with other clubs for joint projects, learn from each other, and work together to enhance Rotary’s impact in our community.

Let’s prepare ourselves to show ‘The Magic of Rotary’ with upcoming RI President Elect Stephanie A. Urchick and our very own DGE Rajendra Man Sherchan.

Yours in Rotary,
